What's Your Life Saying to You

I've often thought how interesting it might be if we could be as fluid with our names as we are with our fashion styles and our tastes in food. When I've heard references made to indigenous cultures in which people's names were used to designate the things they loved or the skills they had acquired, this has inspired me as well. It's a fun exercise to play with naming ourselves from time-to-time: "She who loves to dance," "He who's learning to say no." It's not essential that we share our invented names with others, but it's an interesting way to track what we feel present with, and how our current life is speaking to us. Maybe, more importantly, it reminds us of how we want to respond to what we're hearing around us and within us.
